Norway's largest ski resort with 98km of well-organised pistes across a broad forested mountain. Excellent for families and intermediates with a well-planned resort village and consistent snowfall. Good snowpark and children's facilities, making it the most popular family ski destination in Scandinavia.
Fly to Oslo (3h drive) or fly to Scandinavian Mountains Airport/Sälen-Trysil Airport (45 min drive, seasonal flights from European cities). Regular Trysil Ekspressen buses run from Oslo (approx 3.5h). A rental car is the most convenient option. Roads are well-maintained but can be snowy — winter tyres are legally required in Norway.
Trysil has several base areas — Turistsenteret is the main hub with the most services, restaurants and lift access. Høyfjellsenteret is higher up, quieter and popular with families. Skihytta and Fageråsen are smaller bases. Cabins and slope-side apartments are the most common accommodation type. The resort is very spread out, so location matters.
